30g Low Profile Frag Cube build
This was going to be a quick temporary set-up until I have my other one built, but it is turning out pretty nice.
The Start: 24x24x12
Resealed & Rimless
Rough Stand Build
Installing sump & equiptment
First Tank Shot

Re: 30g Low Profile Frag Cube build
Thx Matt, but I've got WAY too much LR! It is suppose to be a "Frag" tank.. looking more like a Reef.
Re: 30g Low Profile Frag Cube build
Ha! I just got on here to post my setup and you have pics of yours. Yours looks way nicer than mine though.

Re: 30g Low Profile Frag Cube build
Having some plumbing issues, lookin' for help here. I start off using a Mag7, but it Quickly would drain the small portion allocated for the return section. Secondly, I'm using a Rio 1100 (382gph) but having surging issues and it never fills the tank properly. I don't have the internal overflow box built yet, merely draining through the stand pipe. The stand pipe it's self may be the issue. I'm typically going from 1" bulkhead to 1 1/4" stand pipe. Here I had to start with 3/4" bulkhead and only went to 1". Any thoughts?
Re: 30g Low Profile Frag Cube build
You could just put a valve on the output of the mag 7. It's not bad for the pumps, and actually cuts down the power used by the pump as well (more head pressure, slower RPMs). That would keep it from emptying that section so quickly. If you were planning on adding anything else like a reactor you could also split the output on the pump and run it to another piece of equipment.
The 3/4 bulkhead shouldn't be the problem or it would also cause problems on the mag 7 correct?

I think I still have that Rio 1700 laying around you could try if you want. Should work perfect for that drain and return size.

Re: 30g Low Profile Frag Cube build
I've been thinking the same Matt. I'll re-install the Mag7 and add a valve. I'll keep the Rio1700 in-mind Gabe. Installing the overflow will keep the tank level constant.. that'll be nice.

Giant waving-hand Anthellia. The lighting and Iphone are contributing to the colors. More pinkish/ flesh-toned in person. I'll give you a piece if you like, I have plenty.
Re: 30g Low Profile Frag Cube build
nice, colors are awesome. I am trying to convince the wife I need to build another tank like I had from scratch I think it will be a long convincing process. I finally convinced her I needed a quarantine tank and that took 3 months.

Re: 30g Low Profile Frag Cube build
Thanks Kevin... as for being a long convincing process, we all have "Bosses".
Re: 30g Low Profile Frag Cube build
Ok, put the Mag7 back on with a cut-off valve. Still surging badly. Any other thoughts?

Re: 30g Low Profile Frag Cube build
Well no change in the "Surging" problem. I waiting on a friend to cut up some acrylic for me to build the overflow box. I did get a custom stand made though, I'm "REALLY" impressed! Got it painted up & I ready to start moving the sump/fuge over... ready to move everything on to it!

Re: 30g Low Profile Frag Cube build
Well, I've crammed alot into the stand.
Cabinet Light, TLF Phosban Reactor w/MJ400, 10g Sump/Fuge, Mag7 Return, Coralife 65g SuperSkimmer, DYI ATO (dual float switches w/ Aqualifter) and 2 powerstrips. One with Digital Timer for the lights, and one for all water movement.
Emptied tank contents into a temporary 20L so I could install internal overflow. Will change up the plumbing some while empty and dry.

Re: 30g Low Profile Frag Cube build
I'm cutting the overflow tonight. Raining yesterday so I wasn't gonna put the table saw out in that.
Stand and setup looks awesome!!!
