Question about sand

Hey guys I have 2 20lb bags of sand that I needed to add to my aquarium. But i am scared it might stress out fish. Will it stress out fish and if so is there another way to get sand into tank??

I've added sand to tanks and had no problem, I do it day by day though, I will take one of the big red plastic drinks beakers (about a pint I guess), and fill that with sand. Then holding it vertically I slowly put it into the water so the water from the tank soaks the sand (you could just scoop some water out and fill the beaker and sand). Then I slowly move it down to an empty corner of my tank, and very slowly let the sand pour into the corner. I leave that there for 24 hours before slowly spreading it out.
This was done using washed sand, and I never had any "milkiness" or signs of stress. That is in my SW tank.

In my cichlid tank, hell, I would just use the same process but put about 5 beakers in the tank, leave it in a pile and let them scoop and spit away for a day or two.
We will frequently mess with the sand in the Cichlid tanks, where the dominant male has been creating a breeding crater, just to keep him busy and reduce the aggression. Currently I may have to re-tank a Sunshine Peacock male, plus another, as there are a couple of major power battles going on in one 55G tank, in the Mbuna tank I have a Kenyi male that is so dominant that if I put my hand in the water he will attack it, so I may have to move some of the other males from that tank too.

After I wash my sand real good I use pvc pipe..
Place in water and fill with sand and move it around at a slow pace.

If I am using live sand, is that still ok?

Shouldn't be a problem since it's wet. Just do a little at a time .
