Wonderful find Gabe, thanks for posting the link. The facts and data are scary, the trouble as I see it is that "it's not on my doorstep" and so few people know about it, and even fewer really care.
The fact that Castro was isolating cuba probably had a great deal to do with this reef being preserved, as the politics change there, hopefully some thing such as the World Wildlife will get involved in ensuring it remains that way.

Saw that video- Makes me want to sneak to Cuba.
I dove last in Turks & Caicos which is near Cuba- was beautiful.
