Big Tank Club

I'm joining the big tank club! Whoo hoo! It's honestly about perfect too. I was hoping for a 180g tank sometime because I loved the dimensions. I like these dimensions even better! It's a 227g 72x27x27. It'll give me enough depth to run some lps and acans down low and in shadows, and still have plenty of room for sps up high! I'll also run very minimal rockwork... a very open look. Will house a Vlamingii Tang until he outgrows it, as well as a Regal (yellow belly hopefully) and my dream fish... a Powder Blue. I'm planning for LEDs of course, the TDNW-300 skimmer, biopellets and two MP60s for flow. I've got the Reeflo Dart return pump also. None of this will happen quickly. Won't even touch water this year! I'm beyond excited though! :-)

If any of ya'll see any of those tangs at an inch to inch and a half long let me know! Or if anyone orders from live aquaria I can see if they have a tiny/small in stock.

Yes I know! So screaming for me to adopt them and give them a proper home. Perhaps I should start an adoption fund and ask for donors...

Yeti... I know exactly how you feel being jealous of the large tanks! I'm still likely a year away from setting this up! Lol

Don't know if congrats or a damnit is in order here. Damnit cause that is a huge tank and I want it, congrats on it though. Lol. If my tank goes well and coral does good I got a thumbs up for a bigger tank. But congrats for beeting me to it.

If you need some "seasoned" water to help with the cycle let me know and I will do a water change and you can have some.

Powder blues are my favorite. I've always wanted one but it's not suitable for my tank.

That Whitetail on the other hand is a new one to me. I'll be researching that fish and adding it to my list.

Yeah Gabe you should really order one of those... ya know... soon... before the Powder Blues go off of sale. ;-)

Petco has a powder blue now for sale. I like them but I prefer the powder browns

I wouldn't mind keeping a small one for a bit then passing it on to someone with a bigger tank, just to enjoy keeping one for a while. I saw a show on Animal Planet or Nat Geo a long time ago before I kept salt where some tang was eating algae and a whole school of powder blues came through ad wiped out all the algae and I said then I would have one of those one day. It will be a while in my house before I can keep a large tank though. Got to get some kids out of here.

I was in petco Friday and didnt see any powder blues. Did they get another shipment since then?

Just called up there. There was one there Friday that sold quickly. They're getting another in this Friday though! :-)

Pet Zone in Shreveport had one this weekend I believe. 3" or so.

I'm looking for approx 1.5" to 2". He'll spend a bit of time in a smaller tank until my larger one is up.

Will keep a look out around here, never see them that small at the LFS in Shreveport but might just get lucky

Haha. Yeah my 29g feels like a frag now! It's length is less than my new tanks depth when considering the filtering! Haha.
