Are there any good places to buy cichlids in East Texas? I live in Tyler, and can't find anywhere but Petsmart and Petland. There has to be some better fish stores somewhere around here without having to go to Dallas.

I sold Jeff my female jack Dempsey today and saw a massive green terror as well.. So there are a couple really good looking ones in their store, but like what has been said, they can order whatever it is youre looking for as well
Good luck!

I have some I could sell. It depends what you are looking to set up, and how big your tank is, and what you are looking for.
I have some mature fish, with full attitude. Between about 5 & 6", I will not guarantee they are pedigree, so if you want them for breeding stock they are a no go.

What size tank and what filtration do you run? Tell us about your tank....and we love pictures.

I live in Shreveport - and Aquarium concepts does have some very nice peacocks in. The variety isn't huge - normally 7-10 varieties of peacocks/haps, but they are good size/quality. I DO intend to ask Scott, the owner, if his provider hormones though. I still don't understand how they can have a tank with 20 con-specific species males in a tank and they all be colored 100% - it doesn't make sense without hormones. Either way I think Scott would tell ya, he's a pretty straight shooter.

Don't be afraid to order! I've acquired almost 100% of mine online.

Davesrarefish.com - best provider for top quality Africans. Dave is either a ichthyologist / or marine biologist. The fish are perfect, but expensive... and the guy knows fish like no one else.

livefishdirect.com - Good source for haps, have a few Peacocks and SA/CA/Tangy/Vics. These are usually juvenile unsexed, but if you request so in the order, Josh will try to pick you out males. The guys remarkably good at venting I guess. Good fish, just young.

tangledupincichlids.com - Jeff is the Dave of SA/CA fish. Lots of hard to find new world cichlids - tons of wild and F1 to choose from.

Don't be afraid to order - out of all my orders I lost 1 ever, and Dave replaced it. It wasn't even his fault, UPS lost the package (fish).

If you already knew all this, I apologize Marshall! I haven't been around enough to know anyone yet. Good luck with your cichlids!
