White around eye of yellow tang
I switched lights to try out some led's and I noticed my yellow tang has some white around the eyes and a line thats runs down his body. I assumed that it maybe is freaked out by the lighting and didnt want to worrry too much but figured I would get a second opinion. I did have a slight issue with algae but I have been doing water changes and seems to be receeding. Now my main issue is I want to know if its possibly just stress or if i need to worry about something else.

Google "hlle tang" and see if that's what your fish has. It's rumored to be caused from poorly rinsed carbon but I don't think it's proven.

After looking at your pic on the computer and not my phone it definitely looks like "Head and Lateral Line Erosion". I think the only cure is a proper diet and clean water conditions. What are you feeding it? If you're not feeding it Nori I would start ASAP and soak it in a vitamin supplement like Selcon. If you're running any carbon on the tank I'd take it offline for a while and see if it improves.

I don't think this has been proven but it wouldn't hurt to take the carbon offline just to be safe...if you're even running it at all.

Re: White around eye of yellow tang
I feed 1 sheet of sally's seaweed salad 1 sheet ocean nutrition green marine algae with natural garlic extract per week and daily alternate between new life spectrum thera + a and a home brew that has various meaty ingredients like shrimp silversides mysis etc. I did recently add carbon so from your earlier post removed it and now I suppose it's a waiting game.

Re: White around eye of yellow tang
I don't think there is much you can do but keep it fed and fat, keep water A+ and hope for the best. I'd keep the Nori sheets available to the tang everyday for now. It's a nutritional issue so allowing it to free feed whenever it wants will be the best option IMO. If you can get your hands on some Selcon or some other vitamin soak for fish it may help the recovery.
Good luck and keep us updated! It can recover.
