Peppermint Shrimp - Aptasia - AptasiaX
OK, so I have had a gradual out break of Aptasia, I was trying to keep it under control with the boiling water injections, but a few of them were rooted under shelves and I couldn't get to their roots, from which the problem spread. I bought some AptasiaX, and gently fed each head, small and large, a nice dollop of the white cream of death. They shriveled back and started to disolve, "problem sorted" I thought. Meanwhile Mrs Y, my internet research expert starts to say "Erm, darling, it says here that over 50% of people have had a major problem using that, as in ... erm well, it creates a far greater issue." I look over, as I watch my success, "A far greater issue?". "Yes, if it doesn't disolve everything, it can lead to lots of babies!"
So I lathered the remaining culprits "Ha! No babies in my tanks!"
Mrs Y "You could get some Peppermint Shrimp. It says here that they eat Aptasia."
Smiling confidently "I won't be needing Shrimp, I've zapped them."
So..........
If anyone is in Petco on Saturday, and they see some Peppermint Shrimp, can you let me know how many they have, and how much they are. I've got lots and lots of small Aptasia upon which they can feed.
Nature is as always, so much damned smarter. And yes, Mrs Y. Too.

If you can get one or two more people to go in reeftopia.com has the best price on peppermint shrimp. Look under http://reeftopia.com/completecatalog-a.htm lot prices. Pepps work out to $2.80 ea. Even with shipping the prices are pretty cheap.
The Aiptasia X works well but the nems will spew out larvae if you don't get them just right and there will be a ton more pop up. I've found the combo of Aiptasia X and peppermint shrimp keeps them in check. I almost think that peppermint shrimp "farm" Aiptasia. They will clean them up but always leave one or two. If you hit the remaining ones with the Aiptasia X the shrimp will go right after the dying nem.
Orders of $120.00 or more get FREE SHIPPING... Via FedEx Priority Overnight. Minimum order is $59.00. For orders under $69.00 we charge $30.00. For orders from $69.00 to $119.00 we charge $20.00. Orders of $120.00 or more get Free Shipping. Orders of $200.00 or more get Free Shipping and a 10% discount when ordered on-line. Boxes, heat or ice packs, for all orders are FREE.

Just bought a peppermint shrimp yesterday for 3 small aptasia nems that I noticed in my 8 gal nano. I woke up this morning and in less than 24 hours they were no where to be found!! +1 to peppermint shrimps!

My pep does nothing for mine. He hides in the shadows until I feed corals and then digs the food out of there. When I redo this tank soon he'll be going back to the fuge and my coral banded that does the same thing is going to the pico prison cell
