My new 115g Frag Tank!!!
Well, I've built a couple of setups in the past, 1 or 2!! LOL!! I've been wanting to post on build thread! So, I thought I might try it on this tank!
First, I've been wanting to get a frag tank for a stand that I already have that has a 48Lx24W footprint. But, I ended up finding a used (but has never had water in it) 115g RR eurobraced that measure 48Lx30Wx18.5T! I got it cheap enough to where I could afford to buy or build a stand!
We ran up to Mesquite yesterday and picked the tank up! Then made a quick trip to Lowes last night at closing time, and only spent about $45 on 2x6's and screws! Then it only took us about an hour to frame it last night! Mike is going to skin it for me at a later date! I'll post a couple of pics next!
I've got to head out of town today for work, so hopefully I'll get it up and running next weekend!!

Only went 29" tall on the stand, so the wife can reach everything! (she's kinda on the "NOT SO TALL SIDE"!) LOL! She's my tank caretaker when I'm gone out of town with work!

Re: My new 115g Frag Tank!!!
Thanks!! I did get the 33g long sump under it!! Went with a used SWC 200 skimmer that I picked up and put a Quiet One 4000 (991gph) on it for the return! I put a T just above the return pump going to 2 separate 3/4" valves. I put a modded TLF 150 reactor with Vertex bio pellets coming off one valve! i'm gonna run a BRS reactor with activated carbon off the 2nd valve!! I'll try to get some pics later today!!

Looks great! The Metal Halides are perfect for that. Let me know what your opinions are for MH vs LED. I'll get your opinion again in two years when you've paid for te bulb changes too! Lol. I've been considering MH for my 227g

Re: My new 115g Frag Tank!!!
Matt...I just switched from MH to LED and I think I like the MH better. It gave me more coverage and my corals seemed to open up more. Just my 2 cents. I may go back to MH.

Re: My new 115g Frag Tank!!!
Thanks Reily! It's like my Zoas are totally different corals! The metal halides bring out colors that I had no idea were there! An entire new batch of Zoas! Gotta love that! Thats the only reason I switched from my LED's. And my SPS looks great as well. But the biggest change is definitely in my Zoas!
And the cash that I received in the trade for my LEDs will buy me 4 new 250w Phoenix 14k bulbs. Water temp is fine (NO CHILLER) and there was not a noticable difference in my electric bill when I switched from halides to LEDs. So, I'm not to worried about the cost difference.
And Reiley, there's no way that your getting your Lumenarc pendant back!!

Let's Try Skimmer #2
[img][/img]
Well, the impeller went out on the Sicce 2500 that is on my SWC 200 skimmer!! So, the only other skimmer that I had available was a Reef Octopus recirculating skimmer, w/OTP-3000 pump, that wouldn't fit under the tank!! But, I got lucky and could run it externally!!
[img][/img]
NOT BAD!!!

Ordered a Red Devil impeller for the Sicce 2500 pump last night for $19.95! Hopefully I can switch back to the SWC 200 when the new impeller comes in!

Re: My new 115g Frag Tank!!!
Got a new Red Devil impeller for my SWC's skimmer's pump!! Took the Reef Octopus skimmer off and put the SWC skimmer back in the sump!! Working like a champ!! Thinking about putting the Reef Octopus up for sale? I'd like to keep it for a backup, but can't really afford to!!
