220G Acrylic build
well I picked up my new tank and stand yesterday and some new corals , will be taking alot of pictures the next 3 weeks as it is assembled. I will be calling Jason in a bit, I have to let some parts of the stand dry had to clean off black mold I think? (it was under the stand and real sooty?) then seal it.
foot print is 60"x36"x24", stand is 32" tall

Re: 220G Acrylic build
Well it's made it into the house, now I have to tear down my 90G so I can get refugium out and start to build up the 220G

Re: 220G Acrylic build
ok update had a little issue with a heater (went wild and the water was 90-100 and don't know for how long) while the fish and corals were in transit for 2 days. Lost the following:
3 yr old yellow tang
Coral banded shrimp pair,
6" plate coral
3-4 big snails
and finally removed the sea apple (over 3 yrs old) (he was still alive but didn't want to take a change he would poison the big tank)
not sure what else may die yet but I completed an emergency move in to the 220 last night.

Re: 220G Acrylic build
Really curious about the heater, your signature shows you are using an Apex jr controller, I wonder how the heater temp got past the Apex? or does the Apex not control temp also? Don't know how yours is setup but I have my heater set where I want the temp to be and I have my reefkeeper set to turn on 1 degree below that and off at 1 degree above that so I'm protected by two thermostats instead of just one. Heater failure has been the demise of a lot of reef tanks.

Re: 220G Acrylic build
I agree but if there's a controller running the heater it should cut power to the heater once it goes over the temp set in the controller thereby illuminating the overheating problem. If a heater fails to come on a controller won't help and the tank will get cold but using a controller the heater should never over heat a tank because the controller shuts it off. You should be able to turn a heater as high as it will go and the controller will turn it on and off as needed. That's why I was wondering why the apex jr. Didn't turn off the heater.

Re: 220G Acrylic build
It over heated in the temp container while setting up the 220G, but had to take the 90G down to sell, then the buyer backed out but everything was already in tubs.

Oh wow I see now, everything was in containers on a move, that hurts to loose your critters on a move like that.

Ok tank is up and running playing with tthe lighting, want to go LED but it's going to cost a bit I was moving the light around to try and get a better picture thats why the shadows appear to be different hard to get a good pic with cell phone but I will upload some more after things settle down and I get the refugium and underside completed.
