Severum breeding
So my father in law's mates pair of severums have laid eggs today and he's asked me for some advice on how to get this bunch to survive.. If anyone has any suggestions we'd def take em!!
They're in a 250 gal large cichlids tank.. He said the problem he had before was predation from the other cichlids.. I suggested a tank divider with the parents and fry on one side and the other fish separated.. What do y'all think?

"a tank divider with the parents and fry on one side and the other fish separated.. "
The only other thing I can think of would be another tank for grow-out. A divider can easily be made from Egg Crate. AKA light diffuser panel from Lowes or HomeDepot.

I had the same idea, use egg crate. I've even seen some breeders keeping a male one side and female the other side, to prevent the male killing the male during breeding, and they still bred.

I think he's probably gonna go with the egg crate.. Seems the most logical md inexpensive.. Are there any certain other things that we should look out for? Behavior of the parents or feeding habits for the parents?
What about when the fry get large enough to move to a different tank? Should it be a bare bottom sterile tank like for discus fry or should it be a smaller mark up of the main tank?

Re: Severum breeding
Most breeders I have seen video's of have bare bottom tanks, with maybe a couple of rocks in for fry. The bare bottom means that when you do a water change you suck up all the detritus. Breeding tanks aren't for show, they are for keeping young fish alive.
One guy had approx. 50 tanks. All the breeder tanks had bare bottom, and also a large sponge on the intake, to prevent the fry being sucked up.
