FW member new to SW
I've been a member of this forum for a number of years now, keeping avg 1100 gallons of fw tanks, mostly African cichlids and brackish species. I hadn't spent much time on this forum, but I acquired my first sw tank last week and plan to become more active on here. Currently climbing the learning curve and reading as much as possible both here and elsewhere, but I'll invariably have questions. When I have engaged with this forum, everyone has been incredibly helpful and friendly, and I look forward to being able to reciprocate as I get up to speed. Thanks! Kathleen Pool in Longview.

lots of great people to ask here. just remember that old military saying "fast is slow, slow is fast" nothing good happens quick with sw tanks.

Slow growth... got it
Thanks for the welcomes. So far the tank looks just like a freshwater tank I might set up: crushed coral substrate, Texas holey rock and coral stone scattered about, and a few artifical shelters set up to keep everyone comfortable. Only exception is the protein skimmer. I bought a few blue chromis yesterday since they were cheap and I understand hardy as well -- "test fish". I have no intention of blowing loads of money I don't have in the first place indulging in the fancy or exotic just yet.... plan to master the easiest then move up incrementally to more challenging species. I look forward to coming over to the dark side... when he hears that my 6 year old son thinks I have joined a secret Darth Vader fan club!
