Wave Maker
Does anybody have a wave maker and if so can you post a video of your tank and explain how yours works and the components that you have. Been checking them out and most seem to be in a rimless tank

Re: Wave Maker
I have a vortech pump for my NPS tank, and then I have koralia evos on an alternating timer from my reefkeeper elite in my larger tank. Niether actually are setup to create waves, but they work well. what exactly are you looking to find out ?

Re: Wave Maker
They don't "create a wave" as in a current that moves the top of your water back and forth. They mimic a wave by turning on different powerheads at different times, therefore creating current that pushes on one side of a coral, and then switching so the current is pushing on the opposite side.

Re: Wave Maker
.... I stand corrected.
I've never seen that before. I'm impressed. Most of those did appear to be a tank with exactly 1 powerhead or two linked so there weren't alternate currents that would mess up the uniform flow to create the wave. When I first started I imagined that's how a wave maker would work but after awhile I figured I was just wrong because I had never seen it. So since an overflow wouldn't work with those... how does water get to the sump? Is there a way to do surface skimming with those?
I love it... and I want one. lol

Re: Wave Maker
with a wave that size it would cause a few problems with the overflow. My thinking would be to have an over flow at each end of the tank so no matter what side the wave was at it would feed a drain.
might not be that easy though.
