Flower Anemone Empty Flower Anemone

Post by matt_longview Mon 14 Feb 2011, 12:41 pm

Someone I was talking to at the meeting suggested I check out flower anemone's if I wanted an anemone in my nano (and something that would be really cool on my sandbed). I've checked them out and found out most of the important info. It seems as though it would do just fine in my system, my only concern is physical tank size. What do you guys think? 12" wide for an anemone that (from what I've read) can get up to 8" seems pretty small. I don't know how difficult it is to move an anemone out if it gets too large in my tank either...
I've got a spot picked out that would give it a good 6 to 8 inches across (one of these or a small hammer are likely filling this spot). Can someone tell me how deep the sandbed needs to be? It didn't say anything specific in the articles I read. General thoughts? Go for it... heck no... eh who cares why do you ask so many questions???

Thanks. Ya'll just recently talked me out of a sun coral! lol

Aren't Flower Anemone's rock dwellers? They dont live on the sand, I don't think, they don't host clowns either.

I knew they didn't host clowns for sure. But I thought they would bury their foot in sand and stay quite still... anyone know for sure?

Matt
I have read that to that they would live on the sand but every pic I see of them. they are on the rocks and they have a powerful sting if they come in contact with your corals, Just my opinion but putting any anemone in a nano is asking for disaster. The pic below is worth a 1000 words, none in the sand.
