Ok, back from the beach.
LED's arrived while I was away (hope to install by the weekend) got a ton of frags looking to be added. So looks like I have work ahead of me.

Re: Bryan's Contest Nano (killed by my daughter)
Ok, as most of you already know I have a 2yr old reef tank terrorist as a daughter. I have been through my fair share of "dont touch the tank" - "keep your hands out of the water" - "NO! , your doll doesn't want to see fishies". Well earlier this week / last weekend she found it very important to place my TV remote as well as my check book into my new cube. I have been trying to find a more "child free" place to put the tank but havent found a place for it as of yet.
NOW THE REALLY BAD PART
This morning I had to leave early for work, and the wife and terrorist were still at home. Wife was in the shower and the , well you know, was still asleep. (so my wife thought) Obviously that wasnt the case or I wouldnt be writing this today.
I get home around 2:30 pm to find an open container of "VICKS VAPOR RUB" a small spoon , and a dog bone all sitting next to my tank. As I slowly and regretfully move closer to inspect I notice a large clump of vicks on the rim of the glass. The water was so cloudy that I couldnt see in the tank. I instantly call my wife and find out the she found the GUILTY party scooping out the vapor rub and "DOSING" my tank with heaping spoon fulls. Once caught she dropped the Spoon, and the container into the tank as if she was hiding evidence. Also my ATO float valve is covered along with the RO supply line that feeds the tank. MAD doesnt even begin to explain it.
So whenever you feel that you are having a bad tank day, read this and realize how good you have it.

Yeah but man you gotta love em!!! The tanks at their level are just to much temptation, maybe try the kitchen counter somewhere, that should be high enough, thats where my pico is, hey I got four grandkids and two more on the way, I got tm all over to my nano and explained that they could not touch and so far its been good, not even a fingerprint one but I know I'm on borrowed time.

Re: Bryan's Contest Nano (killed by my daughter)
everything is toast. even the rock smelled like vicks. It is gummed up in the corner seams , and doesnt want to come off of the glass. I think I am going to scrap the tank and get another one, its only $50, thats more affordable than having that crap contaminating my system later on.

We have 4 cats... yes 4 cats.it seems that for every tank in the house we adopt a stray... even if 2 of the tanks are hers...OK the big monster grey Maine Coon is mine, but he thinks he's a dog, so that's OK. Anyway, I have to be certain that the tank lids are on firmly, otherwise I know I will either lose fish, or get a soaking cat and super stressed fish, and I assure you a 15lb+ maine coon will climb on top of a tank.

Wife had used it the night before and it was still sitting on the bathroom cabinet. She left the bathroom door open so if "the terrorist " woke up she could find mom. Didnt quite work out as planned, but going tank shopping today for replacement or will just order the same from marine depot.

Re: Bryan's Contest Nano (killed by my daughter)
Everything was a total loss - silicone was yellow - all plastics were coated to a point of no return - inline heater had the most horrid smell and the internals were coated . Just not worth the risk of trying to reuse anything.
