yellow stringy substance
I recieved some live rock from someone in the dallas area and after a few weeks a small yellow stringy clump appeared. It spread out in a pattern with a main centerpoint with several strands coming off, and then started multiplying. It never grew in thickness, only in length. It looks like sombody took a spindle of yellow string and threw it all over in the aquarium. I've searched the internet and asked few people and no one knows what it is. Does anybody here have any ideas as to what it could be?

They talk about something similar to that which you described.

Re: yellow stringy substance
Sounds like Terebellidae, or more commonly called spaghetti worms. Good bottom feeder.

it looks almost exactly like the pictures of the spaghetti worms but with no body. i'll try to get some pictures. how do you host them on here? through photobucket or a similar site?

Re: yellow stringy substance
I've never seen the body on the ones I have in my tank either. It is usually buried in the sand or the rock. I think all of mine have migrated to the sand.

Yep, definitely a spaghetti worm. Can't say I've ever seen the body of any of mine though so I can't answer your question.

Re: yellow stringy substance
Nah, they're good for the tank, eat the bad stuff and left over food.
