It's true. More frags coming my way!
Getting some frags in from www.thecoralshop.com for redesigning their website. I'm going to wait until things heal from fragging, then they'll come my way!
Here comes the eye candy.
Derasa Clam ~3.5in
Ultra Blue Maxima Clam
Single eye frag from this QuadraMelon Chalice Colony
Single eye frag from this Ultra Gold Chalice Colony
This Ultra Gold Torch Coral
This Flame Thrower Maxi-Mini Anemone
Whoo hoo! I'm really pumped about these corals. So... the plan now is to move my 29g into my 37g tall bowfront by June of this year. I'll definitely need the space and I need this light to be over a deeper tank because I've got too much par at the bottom of my 18" tank for some of these.
If you guys want anything from his site let me know. Shipping is covered.

Re: It's true. More frags coming my way!
My wife asked me if I would get this pink one instead of the flamethrower...
Hmmm... any thoughts? I suppose that bright of a pink color would be pretty difficult to get into a tank.

Re: It's true. More frags coming my way!
you better get both, the flame thrower is one I havent seen before so get it before its gone. The pink is what makes the wife happy, and if she feels she has an interest to what is in the tank then it becomes easier to justify expensive add ons to her later on.

hope that helps

Difficult compromise... we're getting the flame thrower, but I said Jenny could name our fish. She named the two clown fish after the Eclipse characters Edward and Bella. Oh NO!!! lol.
I have to admit. I started the naming process this week. I picked up a little green goby and I named him Sam. It just fit perfectly... and I'm a big Lord of the Rings fan. :-)

Bilbo? That would be way down my list of names. How about aragon, legolus, gimli, gandolf!!
I would fill up a 220with lid of the rings names before I got to bilbo... Lol

He said he had another Derasa that I could pick from. Man am I glad I checked into it. I've never seen a color pattern like this on a Derasa Clam. I'm getting this one instead of the one above. :-)

Re: It's true. More frags coming my way!
Mike sent me some pics of a few new things he didn't have on the site and I ended up taking this Wellsophyllia (which is actually called a Trachyphyllia to be technical) AKA, Open Brain Coral, instead of the chalice frags. I don't find myself being impatient very often... but this time I had to go for the item that looked awesome NOW rather than 9 months from now with the chalices. I wasn't sure they would do well in intense lighting either, and I read the wellso's adapt much better.
Anywho... here's the pic, and I may get them tomorrow! Approx 3" across.

That is a nice one. I've been looking for a small red one. I tried 2 from Petco and neither one made it more than a week. I think it will do fine under your leds. They can pretty much take any light when healthy. They eat like PIGS!

Re: It's true. More frags coming my way!
I'm going to pick up some krill before it gets here. Apparently they like the larger food more than the mysis/brine size. I thought it was very nice as well! I'm hoping everything does well. :-)

Re: It's true. More frags coming my way!
Bad thing about krill is it floats, (at least the frozen cube kind does), and you can't really target feed corals with it. I have to use mysis and cyclopeeze. I don't know about those larger pieces of frozen krill, I never used them.

Re: It's true. More frags coming my way!
That's good to know. I'll do a touch more research before buying the krill. Obviously I don't want to target feed something on my sand bed with food that floats! lol. If you have anymore info or articles about them let me know. I've read what I can find...

Re: It's true. More frags coming my way!
the single pieces of krill will float only if they are still frozen. once thawed they will sink. One thing to keep in mind is many coral can not digest the thin shell that is on the krill. I use it to feed my torch and frogspawn as well as my tube nem. i thaw them, de-shell them and then feed away. mushrooms like it too

Re: It's true. More frags coming my way!
I always fed mine regular shrimp like you buy to boil! I would cut a piece the size I thought it would eat and feed it. You can buy it from any of the stores and you can but it by the pound and freeze, it works great for all corals like this. This is what I feed my serpant star and peppermints to, they love it. Just put it on a feeding stick and touch it to the tentacles.

Re: It's true. More frags coming my way!
I do that as well donnie. Next time I make up a batch of my fish food (I thaw out entire packages of stuff, run it all through a net, rinse it several times, mix a bunch of stuff in with it and re-freeze it) I'll cut up the raw shrimp as well. I have been giving them to just the brittle star and my coral banded shrimp, but this larger LPS stuff could take pieces of it as well. My maxi-mini carpet will take those no problem also. :-)
Also... it looks like my shipment will come in Wednesday morning... so ship out Tuesday night. If anyone is wanting anything from him, let me know as I'm already paying shipping. Surely some of ya'll are wanting some of these maxi-mini's right?! lol.

Re: It's true. More frags coming my way!
Newest update... decided against the blue maxima in favor of a monti (might not even be a monti... those are deep ridges!)... purple and green base with orange polyps, similar to a reverse sunset, but with purple! :-) I dig it.
Also picking up a few more things on Saturday.
Garf Bonsai Acro
Pink Millepora
Lord of the Rings Zoa (if available, if not, likely a rainbow paly... or something lol)

Re: It's true. More frags coming my way!
Yeah definitely might turn into it... we'll have to see if the polyps lighten up. I actually mentioned to him that it looked like it might be the rainbow. I hope so... because I like the rainbow a lot! :-)
EDIT: I just looked at some pics and man you're right. I was thinking the rainbow was primarily yellow polyps, but some of them are all orange. Very cool! :-D
