My daughter broke this thermometer on the rim of my tank. Not sure if any of the beads in the bottom got into the tank.

The tank is still trying to cycle so no livestock is in the tank, should I tear it down and start over or will it be ok?

That totally sucks. 2 concerns : lead balls... without seeing your LR, you could sweep a magnet over the sand. LR maybe another issue. Second would be the mercury. Mercury kills fish. I'd opt for a do-over.

I feel you on that! I love rimless on my tank.... but man it makes me nervous with my two year old. He tries to hang his fingers in the water. Im lucky he hasn't thrown anything in there yet. The 37 I'm switching to will definitely have a canopy on it!

I would get one of these thermometers and stick it to the glass, they are very accurate andd don't break., I have used them for years along with the digital thermometers with a probe and find them to be really accurate. You can buy them anywhere, I picked up one yesterday from petsmart for like $3.00. I agrre with matt though, I would do over.

I have a lab grade digi. thermometer that I just got back from having it calibrated. I was double checking the calibration against a non-digital thermo. when my daughter grabbed it out of the tank and used it as a hammer on the rim of the glass.

end result = my frustration
