Finally - I caught "Little Evil!"
I finally caught "Little Evil" this morning! "Little evil" is a sunrise dottyback that I have been trying to catch for several months now. I tried every store bought and DIY fish trap out there with no success.
I finally built a trap that the dottyback would actually go into. I modified one of the humane mouse traps from TomCat; pic below. Basically, I removed the balancing part of the trap, superglued the back cover on, drilled a feeding hole, and ran a piece of fishing line through the trap and tied it to the trap door. Once the dottyback went in I was able to pull on the line and close the trap door. An added benefit is the fact that the door actually latches shut once it is closed.
The list of things this dottyback has killed over the last few years:
* 2 - skunk cleaner shrimps
* 1 - Coral banded shrimp
* 1 - Large Chromi
* 1 - Pink spot shrimp goby
* Too many to count - peppermint shrimp
I would not recommend a dottyback to anyone after the trouble I had with this one and the horror stories I have read on the different forums. This fish got more and more aggressive as it got bigger. He was even starting to attack the tangs as I was feeding through the trap.
Now the six line can stop running for his life. And! We can finally add shrimp and other fish to the tank.

He may not get along with the wrasse. He does not like the six line at all. From everything that I read, they do not like any fish that is even similar to their shape. He does have a nice set of teeth also.
