Frag - Frag lighting ? Empty Frag lighting ?

Post by etexer Sun 16 Jan 2011, 2:12 pm

I was thinking about frag tanks in the future. Would two Hagen Glo 48" T5 HOs work mounted 4.5" above water line? The tanks are 48"x13"x13" 35 gal tanks

It all dePends on what you plan to keep in the frag tank. Softies are easily kept under T5's while some LPS and SPS need more intense lighting such as MH or LED. I use the following web site for selecting lights:

I've been considering and LED Hood for my tank, I was curious though, how do live plants fair under them? Its a freshwater tank so a little different then what you guys are talking about, but thought I'd ask anyway Razz

I have a 18g rubbermaid SPS frag tank with a 250w MH and a 18g softie/LPS tank with 6x39w T5 HO ATI bulbs. the growth of SPS under the MH is better than anything I have ever used
