Not 1 not 2 but now 3 x 30G FW tanks!
I bought a 30G tank on CL last week thinking I may try a species only tank for a change. My plan was to use Donnie's superb project report to build a back drop, but try and make it have overhangs, and if possible caves. Not sure it's possible, but I'm thinking PVC pipe pushed into the deeper parts may be the reinforcement required to support the overhangs.
Anyway today was my first day off for a week, so I cleaned the limescale off, it had been used for snakes I think from the low water line, and filled it 2/3 with water, no signs of leaking. The light and canopy are good, some basic other stuff came with it, so a decent buy I thought.
Well we had to go into town, and called into Goodwill to look at their books and if there was maybe a small table to take the 30G (I'm going to use a HOB, so no cabinet for a canister required), and what do I see? A damned near new 30G tank, with really clean light, small Tetra filter and a humungous vacuum .... for $25. Well darn it, I couldn't walk away from that now could I?
My girlfriend rolled her eyes, with that resigned air about her. And now I have 2 30G tanks.
Now where the hell can I put both of them I'm asking myself?

You put one under the other, plumb them together, get some live rock and sand and you'll have a nice reef with refugium!

Ritter, I read out your suggestion, and I got such a look from my girlfriend.... If an Englishman with an American lady ever comes to Bodacious...HIDE!
And if you have a tank there, claim you know nothing about fish, your just the busboy.

I've had to deal with a lot worse than an Englishman and his cranky girlfriend. If we can ever get a meeting organized again you can bring her along and maybe she could be persuaded.

OK, had to change the title.
Yesterday I saw a 2 x 30G wrought iron fish rack on CL.
Great I thought, just down the road, $30. Perfect!
Then I find it includes another 30G tank (this one definitely needs to be re-sealed) but I now have 3 of them.
I then placed one on the bottom shelf, put a HOB filter to gauge space required, then put on the upper tank. Looks good.
Until.....
"How will you vacuum and do water changes? Annnd.. how will you be able to clean out the HOB?" My dearly beloved asks.
Being slim of build the vaccum/water change wasn't a problem, my arm fits in the gap between the upper and lower (just), but anything other than swapping filters in the HOB was impossible I realised.
The lower tank would have to be only about 15" max height...drats!
Oh and I've had the comment already, "I don't think that would be a good place for a sump"... get out of my head my beloved.
