Well unlike our stupid a$$ Congress I successfully averted disaster last night! I did a quick check of the tank last night before I went to bed as I always do and I just happen to see a little water on the outside edge of the tank stand. I checked further and finally found it was coming from my ATO container, it had developed a small crack in one corner and apparently had just started leaking, mind you now this was at 12:00 midnight. I can only imagine what kind of damage I would have had if I had not seen the water. I only keep one gallon in the container but thats enough to make a mess. I went to Wal Mart this morning and got another and picked up a flat container and cut the sides off about one inch high so now I have the new ATO container sitting in another container just in case.

I'd say how lucky... but intentionally checking the tank each night for problems means luck had nothing to do with it. Great job Donnie! :-)

Matt, I bet you check yours every night too, I would guess that most of us do, if someone is not checking their tank evey night, it is a disaster waiting to happen. Thats one of those things that should be second nature like brushing your teeth. Hey, I've been flooded before, aint no fun!

Great save Donnie. Glad you was able to catch it before it became a problem. I also check my tank nighly, and when I get up as well.

Things will always happen at the most inconvenient times. Before I went on vacation a couple weeks ago I shut my pumps off to clean the skimmer cup and make sure everything was in order before leaving. I didn't know it but my siphon break in the return line had a little algae covering it so...sump flood right before leaving for vacation! The water just kept siphoning back into the sump and luckily I was standing there to see it happen and stop it. It probably would have siphoned about 15 gallons of water into my floor before getting to the end of the return if the power would have gone out and I wasn't there to stop it.
