After seeing all of yalls saltwater tanks i want one bad. i have a small 10g could i set that up as one just to get a taste of salt then maybe use one of my 55gallons later. and how hard is salt i hear its really hard and complicated

I know this sounds crazy, but I think it is easier. I know fresh water is more forgiving when you make a mistake, but salt seems to do a lot of work for you that helps.

I'm about to convert a10g into an all in one tank. I'll make sure to post plenty of pics and give lots of info to follow along with if you are interested. :-)

Also, start reading the "new to saltwater"thread that is at the top of this general reef forum.

Yes sir that would be greatly appreciated. I looked at all of the tanks on the forum and was disgusted with mine afterwards. I think I would like to do the full setup but wonder if just a fish and lice rock would be better for just the 10 gallon on my office desk at home. I would really be happy with a small coral setup with like 1 or 2 smaller fish...say the clowns

14 gallon Bio cube would be a good choice as it is already setup for saltwater and they are pretty easy to care for. I am posting a link below to a 14 biocube build that might interest you, it shows just what you can expect from the 14g. Just taking a 10 gallon and going salt will be more difficult and require a lot of work to get the filtration up to par.

Depends on what you want to keep. A few hardy fish with some live rock isn't complicated at all. Once you get the hang of that then a few easy soft corals or lps isn't hard either. Once you get into more advanced corals then it gets more tricky. There's levels in this hobby of difficulty depending on what you want in your tank. Just make sure before you buy something you research on it or ask here on the boards so you don't end up with a tank full of Moorish Idols, Feather Stars, and Carnation Corals.
