40 Breeder SPS Prop. System
As most know, I sold my 8ft Prop system. I wanted to down-size and concentrate on SPS only. I've got most of the equiptment already and hope to have it put together this weekend. Right now I'm struggleing over lighting choices...
My collection of SPS frags are in my 200 right now and are not doing too well. I'm not sure if it's related to my lighting which is Evolution 14K (50% white/ 50% blue) LED copies. My PE has shrunk down to nothing over the past couple of days. Under the 250w MH in the old prop system.. they were growing like weeds!
Choices:
1) Pick-up another LED fixture like I already have (Under $200) and hope something else is causing the PE problem. Eventually want these SPS in my big DT anyways and could put this fixture on my DT as it would match.
2) Custom build an LED system.. although I know little about building one. Does'nt sound like something I really want to get into... plus my SPS is suffering now, so time is a factor too. Could build one when not pressed for time.
3) Pick-up a used 250w MH... that I know would grow them. But would do little to get them back into my DT.
4) Pick-up a used 150w or T5 set-up.. hopefully save a few bucks this way until I find out what's up with my DT... whether is Lighting or something else.
5) Borrow an Evolution 20K for a month... proven to grow.
Thoughts?

Re: 40 Breeder SPS Prop. System
I like option number 1. The 4th light over the 200g would help getting SPS in there down the road as well. I like it!

Well, I've got option #4 lined up for now... would like to see #1 work, that's why I listed it #1
Re: 40 Breeder SPS Prop. System
For a 40g breeder I would go with t5s hands down.
