Re: Ritter's 75 Gallon Reef
Saw Gabe's tank in person today and all I can say is it is amazing. One of the nicest tanks I have seen in a long time. He has a very nice stock in it.

Re: Ritter's 75 Gallon Reef
Just got a box from Liveaquaria.com
The description said 3 1/2" or something but it's way bigger, 3 1/2" across the short side. It's about 5 inches across.
I got a flame angel too but I'm going to try it in the 40 gallon for now.

Re: Ritter's 75 Gallon Reef
The Pocillapora came with a cool hitchhiker, a Pocillapora Crab! I saw only his claw this morning working around in the coral. It's exactly the same color as the corals it's in.
Looks like the one in THIS LINK in the bottom left hand picture.

Re: Ritter's 75 Gallon Reef
The flame made it through the night. That first night in my tank is always the rough part. For some reason my purple lobster that I rarely see took interest in the angel and wouldn't leave it alone. It's not fast enough to catch anything but it came all the way out if it's usual den to chase the angel around. The clowns, bangaii, gramma and goby didn't seem to mind but the yellow tang and the blenny blocked the cave the angel was hiding in. Even the peppermint shrimp didn't want the angel anywhere near them. Hopefully they get all sorted out in a couple of days. The angel is small and fast and just moved from one spot to the other when something bothered it.

Re: Ritter's 75 Gallon Reef
Long as he is active he should be ok I would think. eventually he will establish his pecking order and they will leave him alone.
By the way that is probably my favorite fish.

Mine too. He is doing well in the tank and nothing is bothering him. It is the busiest fish I have ever seen. I have noticed him pick at a few corals but it's just a quick nip and he's on to something else. As long as I don't see any damage to corals I'll leave him alone. The reason I got rid of the last flame angel was because it was picking at my open brains and keeping them from opening fully. Both my open brains have been moved to the 40 gal. but not because of the fish but because I think it's too much light for them. I was loosing the nice colors on them so I'll see how they do in the 40 under the t5's, which means I have more room for sps.

Re: Ritter's 75 Gallon Reef
New pieces.
Picked this up in Austin. Acorpora nana?
New FTS. More sps added and some LPS relocated to the 40 gallon. The leds are too bright for some of them and I have no shaded areas.

Re: Ritter's 75 Gallon Reef
Thanks everyone. Matt, I moved the brains to the 40 because the light was too bright and they were losing some of their colors. I tried shorter photo periods and it didn't help. They did the same thing when I had the Ushio metal halides. When I get them in less light they color up better. My open brains where turning all green and while I was at it I threw my big blue acan and a couple of favias in there too. I'm getting great growth and color out of my sps but lps not so much. Most of the LPS look fine but those open brains and scoly didn't care for the bright light. The look better already since I moved them. I don't doubt the power in these leds at all.
Check this out. This birdsnest is in the bottom third of the tank. I didn't even glue it down I just wedged it in a hole.

Re: Ritter's 75 Gallon Reef
Got a new camera so I was practicing taking pics. Still learning how to take good pics with this thing but I'm getting the hang of it. I really need a tripod but I think I did ok for never using a good camera before.

That clam pic and the orange spotted boy are my favorite pics. The tri-color favia would be... but I'm bitter. ;-)
