Hey guys
I'm thinking about selling my 2-1/2 gallon pico, stand and dimmable led light hood, the one that won the nano tank contest. I'm just putting out feelers to see if anyone might be interested in the little fella. I have added a reefkeeper lite L1 to the setup that can go with it or not. Here is a pic for those that have not seen it.

Thanks Matt
I was either going to sell it or rebuild it from lessons I learned so I may just rebuild it and enter the contest. Be nice to see if I could run with those guys. one thing for sure, it wont be led on the next build, it will be t5 and not have a circulation pump in the display area. I learned a lot from this one so several changes will be made.

I'd say you would have a very good shot! :-) That little pico is just amazing!

Well, I cant use the one I have running now but I do have another 2-1/2 gallon tank sitting here because I was going to rebuild it anyway and change up the filtration so I will mull it over and see. Hey it would give the forum a little more exposure to have a pico from here in the Dallas contest. If I'm gonna do it I better get cracking tho. I am going to redo the light hood and use two 9" t5 bulbs instead of the leds, even dimming the leds it seems that as close as they are to the corals that they grow ok but color washes out, I put t5's over the tank for a few weeks and corals colored back up, I put the leds back on the tank and the colors washed out again and I have tried several different color combinations with leds with no luck. Any ideas on changes will be appreciated if anyone has any.

Well, after checking out the rules on the DFW forum pico contest I will not waste my time! there is a $150.00 max on the equipment budget and there is no way to setup a decent pico that will last long term on that budget! If you consider the tank cost, salt, power bars, timers, heater, pumps, lights, chemipure, purigen, fan to cool the tank in summer, and I guess even an RO-DI unit etc. there is just no way. I would have to include the cost of materials for my stand and canopy even though I already had them. Thats a ridiculous low budget on equipment and there will be lots of failed tanks and dead coral because of it. It takes a lot more accuracy on a pico and $150.00 aint gonna cut it.
