SPS coral is turning white

My SPS coral is turning white just at the very tips on most of the branches but not all. all the tentacles on the coral are still out like normal and color beside on very tips is fine . just dont understand if something is wrong with it or is that how it grows?? help!!

not dosing anything.. it shows to be 9dkh or 161-170ppm kh

The picture didn't show up for me. Is the tissue white or is the tissue gone and you're seeing skeleton? Skeleton is problem for sure. White tissue is problem maybe. A nice closeup pic if you can get one. If you haven't already, start prepping for a large water change just in case.

Still hard for me to tell from the pic. New growth on some sps is white. It will fill in with color behind it and you'll notice it growing. If the tips are dead then they will start to grow algae on them and the flesh will probably continue to die farther down the branch. If it has polyp extension it's still alive and most likely growing.

You need to monitor calcium, alkalinity, magnesium, phosphates, on top of the basic parameters. Only dose if those parameters need to be replenished. Otherwise there is no magic potion for sps. Strong light, clean water and stable parameters is key.
