Guys, I think fragging Tubb's Zoe's are a bit trickier than the others, from what I have read they have a low survival rate, thats one reason they cost so much, so I don't think the get out the scaple approach will work here, they are gonna need some tender lovin care after they are fragged. I personally have not fragged any Zoe's, this is just from reading up on Tubb's.

That's what I've read too Donnie and why I expressed the concern. I'm not saying anyone here can't do it, I'm just saying I don't know any of you well enough to know if you can. That's all. Nothing more. If anyone got offended by that...I'm sorry, that wasn't my intention.

I'm still going to see how many acro will give first. I wouldn't be able to pick up from the other seller for at least a few weeks.

Aren't the polyps on the Tubb's blues REALLY small, or is that something else I'm thinking of?

I'll have to check. I guess the pics I've seen don't really have a size comparison around. I know they are really blue!! Lol.

I bought 75 heads of tubs they grow slow and they are super tiny

Fragging zoas of any kind is risky. I have fragged some of the more exotic zoas with no problems and at other times lost a few frags. The same is true for the cheap zoas. I would suggest you look for a healthy frag to purchase if your worried about loosing your zoas after the mother colony is fragged. You will be taking a gamble if you frag the entire colony.

A lot of the success depends on the surface they are growing on also. A good flat surface increases the chance of survival since the mat comes up easily. A porous surface will increase your chances of loosing the frags and mother colony. This is because the mat is normally torn instead of cut clean with a scalpel.

I'm getting a little more cautious about buying and fragging the colony. I'm also a little less excited about them not shipping. :-( I was thinking... ehh... six hours. But then also thought... ehh... $30 in gas. And now I'm hearing they're really small.... and they grow slow. Blah... what started out as an awesome deal quickly turned into a nightmare. All for some blue zoas!

That's ok Matt.... I could not believe my eyes when I seen how far away it was. However, I have done some really crazy stuff when trying to pick up exotic corals. I don't know how many trips I have made to Dallas to pick up one $25 frag.

Keep us posted if you come across another good deal though! It's always worth trying!
