Newbie from White Oak
Greetings: I am from White Oak and brand new to the Salt Water underworld! So far I have a tank and that is all. I am planning on letting my water sit for at least 6 weeks to go through all the transformations. So I am looking for rock and sand as economical as possible. Since I am going to let my tank sit the rock does not all have to be live. I have enjoyed reading everyone's post...although I often times have no clue what you are talking about!!! I have a lot to learn. Sometimes I want to jump in and ask quetions but I am scared! I am glad I got the information on this blog. I am hoping to learn lots!!!
Thanks,
Stacy
Thanks,
Stacy

Welcome to ETAK !
never be scared to ask qestions. That will kill your tank faster than anything else. Even the most advanced reefer will ask for help every once in a while.
best things to remember : Nothing good ever happens fast in a SW tank. Water Changes are your best friend .
What size tank do you have, and what do you hope to achieve with it ?

Bryan, I have a 55 gal tank. At this point I am not sure exactly what I want to achieve with it. I have 2 little girls that are super excited about us starting this adventure of a saltwater tank! They love anything with color. We are starting slow and hopefully not going to make to many mistakes!

Re: Newbie from White Oak
I bought the tank from a friend of mine so he has done all the hard work! Filtration. 20 gallon sump/refugium with skimmer, live rock and cheato. Obviously I am not sure what all that is yet, but hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will have a better grasp! Honestly not sure on the light question! I will be asking lots of questions.

I hope you found all of those articles. They are very well written by people who have been doing this for longer than I have been alive! :-)
