Montipora Digitata

I have a few frags of a brown montipora digitata for the COOP. It's not the prettiest coral but it is easy to grow under good conditions. It is mostly brown but has a greenish tint to it under higher lighting. This is a good practice coral if you would like to know if your system can grow sps without spending a lot of money for a frag. This is one of the least demanding sps out there. If anyone would like to try some out let me know.

Wish me luck on the SPS. My Red Monti started turning lighter around the edges the last few days... so it's growing!! Hopefully this one does the same.

Thanks for the frag!! I hope to be back on the SPS trail before long. New SPS only aquarium will probably be on order Monday.

This really is a nice piece. The purple growth tips make it look great in my tank. Its a quick grower and mine is doing well.

I forgot...I was supposed to call it "Velvet Finger Montipora".

My lovely "velvet finger montipora" is doing fantastic. Fastest grower in my tank and awesome growth pattern. I think digitatas are my favorite SPS (which is lucky for me, because they're cheaper than acros!).

So anywho, my frag is doing well enough that I could pull a frag or two off of it for the August Meeting. Let me know if you're interested and if so some info about your tank (this is an SPS frag, will need a clean system & high lighting).

Matt, I updated my coop thread since you are ready to donate one back. Nice job on that frag.

I should also note... mine has gone more purple for sure. The new growth is absolutely purple, but the polyps have a slight purpleish tint to them as well. It's in very high lighting, only about 6 or 7 inches under the water surface.

I sent a piece of this to jmg. Mine still has a very cool growth to it.
