Lionfish Invasion Hits Texas Coasts
This is bad news. Not as bad as oil spills I guess but still not good. Probably about the same as letting lions loose on a deer lease. Hopefully this can be kept under control.

I wasn't even aware there was a nice reef in the Gulf so close to Texas. I will have to plan a trip there one day.

That means I'll be helping the environment if I catch one while diving right. ;-)
Actually... that's pretty crappy news! Don't let your pets go in the ocean! Geez!

YES! They actually encourage divers to take them while spear fishing. I've heard they are good eating too. Some vendors are starting to sell the lionfish invasive to the Caribbean. Buy those for your tank instead of the Pacific ones if you can.

Yellow tangs and caulerpa off the Florida coast as well as Oscars in the canals. Plecostamus breeding in south Texas lakes. Pythons and monitors in the Everglades. This kind of news does not bode well for our hobby.
If people don't start being more responsible we may very well be the last generation able to buy exotics.
