This is a new one for me. I've seen lots of odd critters in my tanks but I can't nail this one down. Whatever it is it's growing, not bigger around but longer. The outside of it is ribbed. I haven't seen any type of head or tentacle but the tip of it is green and the rest of it is white.

Any ideas?

Check out Neomeris annulata, looks like it may be that.

Wow... interesting. Is there an opening at the tip or is the outside the organism? I'll try some searches, but off the top of my head I've never seen anything like it. :-)

Edit: Yeti seems to have nailed it. Looks right to me. Cool!

You know how it is Matt, my many years of Reef keeping, my experience in propagating the lesser known species of marine life at times are of some use .... you're not buying that?
OK I'm fairly good at Google searching for the obscure?

Gabe it says a lot for your tank though:

Water quality high is a must for these to grow, so some serious respect to you.

Gabe
At one time TonyT had a huge plant of the same thing growing in his tank, at the time we didn't know what it was either, I don't know if he still has it, it was in the upper left of his tank, I do believe it was the same thing so if you have any coral from him, that might explain it. It is cool looking.

Gabe
I found the picture below of Tony's tank a while back, I circled the plant in red that was in there, looks the same to me.

That looks like it Donnie. Just mine isn't that green. It's on a piece of rock that has been in the tank since I set it up almost 3 years ago. Not sure how they reproduce. I did get some corals from Tony but nothing attached to rock. I don't know if it can be transferred by water or not.
