Dog ID.....
I'm fixin' to adopt "Melody". What breed would y'all say she is ?
The owner doesn't think she's pure GSD because " her fur is too long " .

Re: Dog ID.....
I've seen many long haired GSD,
http://www.google.com/search?q=long+hair+german+shepherd&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=Q4vuTurYHaTw0gHntPDFCQ&ved=0CDIQsAQ&biw=1623&bih=857
However looking at her dimensions when sat, her neck doesn't seem long enough for pure GSD and her front leg ratio to chest width doesn't look 100% GSD.
At first I thought Rottweiler, from her square chest and leg length, but the lighter brown and lack of boxy muzzle made me think GSD / Golden Lab cross (especially as her gold is similar to that of a Lab).
Not uncommon, certainly in the UK, as it can reduce the possible aggression but keeps the intelligence.
In the end for me, it's how her attitude is, if she's friendly and smart and doesn't want to jump the fence or dig to China, she would be OK by me.

Agreed GSD/Lab or GSD/Retriever (longer hair) either way you should be getting an intelligent dog

Judging from her reply to the Siberian's advances , she's definately at least half GSD. The hair was mis-represented . She's smooth ( unless she really furs out this winter) . Small (35-45 lbs.) but well-mannered and leash trained. I do believe she'll make a nice addition to the pack.

I string electric wire around the back yard fence. Shouldn't be a problem. I have long since resigned myself to having a back yard that looks like a mine field. No prob.

Re: Dog ID.....
From interviews with the former owners , it appears that she's a GSD / collie ( border ) mix. She's settled down quite a bit ( after sending the rat terrier to the hospital ) and has joined the pack.
Good news is that you'll all be getting a new pup (in exchange for frags ) this summer.
