Hawian Feather duster lost its head!
Do the feather dusters shed? I found the head of one of my feather dusters head floating on the bottom, it was fine this morning? Do these shed as they grow?

Check you water params, they usually drop a head when water condition is bad, they need clean water with good parameters to keep the head. If its not dead it will regrow a new smaller head but if water is not cleaned up it will drop it again, again they need good water conditions.

I tested the water and showed no Nitrates, ammonia, and PH was 8.1, Salinity is .025-26 no changes there either.

Re: Hawian Feather duster lost its head!
Check to see if a hermit is bothering it , or if something is trying to get it at night. Mine threw its head about a year ago and I noticed that one of my larger hermits were always climbing on it. They throw during times of stress, so it has to be something. Also is it in an area of really strong flow that could be bothering it ? stress is coming from somewhere
When moving rock did you smash it by accident ?

well he still hasn't produced his new crown, the other feather duster is just fine. I move the crown less one out of the sand in to the rocks and I can tell he's alive as the tube opening changes shape and size from time to time.
