Wedding Veil Method
I always heard of the wedding veil method of attaching mushroom frags to rocks but never tried it; until today that is. The method, put the mushroom where you want it and stretch a piece of wedding veil across it to hold it in place until it attaches. Many people super glue the veil to the rock but I found that the veil sticks without glue.
A couple of pictures:
If you look close you can see the mushroom I got from Grim under the veil.
This seems to be much better than watching the mushroom float around the tank in hopes that it will attach somewhere. I have never had any luck using glue on mushrooms either.

Re: Wedding Veil Method
ive done exactly this with ricordia, mushrooms, and xenia.
when i did the ric's i actually just used a very small piece, stuck the ric into a crack, and glued the stuff drown over the top around the hole, and trimmed it down so it was only about the size of a dime, and then the ric opened up, grew thru the veil, and you cant see it at all now.
i had got some pulsing xenia from daniel that i tried for 2 weeks to glue and suture and pin down with rocks... every time i put a rubberband on it it would just pinch thru the coral and 2 pieces would float away. it never would stay put and finally i gave up and used some of the veil and glued it to the rock with the xenia under it and now the stuff is like... spreading out thru the veil and growing really fast. the stuff definatly works well. the first time i used a red veil and stuff disappeared. i notice the white stands out alot more (thats what i used on the xenia and its kinda noticeable for now, but once the xenia fills out more it will disappear as well)
id be more than happy to take pics but my cam is down.

Re: Wedding Veil Method
I'm gonna have to try this. I got a mushroom floating around that I can get to stay anywhere....somehow that little guy works it's way out from under the rubber band. Not sure how it does it, but it's pretty impressive to me.

Re: Wedding Veil Method
it took over 3 weeks to get a tricolor ricordia to attach, even with the veil. sometimes they are stubborn. the offending ric then started to split as soon as it attatched. now its shaped kinda like an 8 with 2 mouths!

I put a big wad of epoxy over a patch of green mushrooms. Within a few days some of the mushrooms have worked their way through the rock out out the side of the epoxy.

That's amazing to me. No doubt the little suckers are tough. The 2 big rics I have...well, let's just say they have been through it.

Make sure you tape the glass to avoid an all out shatter.

Re: Wedding Veil Method
The veil method is very effective. Probably the best for shrooms and such.

Aiptasia X works great on any mushroom! I use it to keep the little buggers away from my SPS corals.
