Re: Questions on reef tank
You could alway build your own led light
Rapid led is just one of a few places where you can buy
stuff to make them.
Retrofit the diy led light into a broken light housing.

+1 on the rapidled.com. They have some awesome DIY kits that you can get!
Just make sure that you get a higher wattage LED, those will give you much more penatration vs. a lot of lower watt LEDs. Just my .02

No. They are a sponsor on R2R and I saw them on there. Seems like a pretty good deal.

Re: Questions on reef tank
345 for a 120W LED from RapidLED is high I have been talking to them and working on a light setup and I have a price of 245.00 with a dawn to dusk timer being extra.
those lights are not a bad setup either, but I am playing with some configurations and would love to know what drivers they are using to get all them lights to work as from what I have found on the web 1 driver is normally only good for up to 12-14 LED's.

My JBJ 28g led has 25-3watt 14k leds on a single driver.

Re: Questions on reef tank
wow, what driver and what is the MHA on that ? From most of the DIY's they don't recommend less that 650MHA per string and is yours on one string or multiples?

Re: Questions on reef tank
Mine actually has five strings of 5 leds ( I currently have two strings unplugged and only using three because of the intensity) but they are all driven from one 700 ma driver, they all connect up together on a circuit board. It has four -3watt blues that are ran from another 700ma driver and two-1watt blue night lights driven from a 350 ma driver. All 89 watts are to intense and was bleaching my sps so I unplugged some of them.

Re: Questions on reef tank
ok that gives me a little more of an idea on what will run are they Cree's or a knock off? I am going to make mine 16k or better running 10 - cool white Cree's and 22 royal blues, with 2 reds all 3W. I will run 2 of these units on my 6' tank and both will be run by dawn to dusk timer. I haven't thought about the blue night lights yet those will probably just be a cheap strip added to my hood.

Re: Questions on reef tank
Don't know the light brand, these are a built in hood that comes factory built with the JBJ 28 professional series, but you can search led drivers on ebay and find drivers for multiple leds.
