What do ya'll think of this fixture, could it support sps?
I am thinking of purchasing it this afternoon for my new tank I set up.

Re: Beamworks LED light
I would say no as it looks like the Marineland Double Bright 24W I had and that was not bright enough even for mushrooms on a 20" depth.

BTW if you need just 1 LED (what size is the tank?) Have you checked out the LED's Sean is selling? I am working on my 4th LED setup/idea so far 3 are looking great.

Re: Beamworks LED light
What size is the new tank? Dimensions... how high are you planning on mounting this over the water?
It's only 18 watts. You would need around 1.5x more light than that for a 10g wih SPS.

Re: Beamworks LED light
The dimensions are:
23in long, 8.5in wide, 22in deep.
I considered Sean's but they will not fit inside the hood and I only have a 23by8in area. The Beamworks light fits perfectly.

Re: Beamworks LED light
That would be good. The height is 3in, but it slants downward at both ends. I would prefer 20k but 14k is fine.

I decided to give this one a try. If it is not enough light I will be adding this one:

Re: Beamworks LED light
ok, good luck don't think that will be enough for SPS except at the very top, second light is only 9 watt each LED 1 watt that will not add hardly anything a waste of money except for fish display.

Re: Beamworks LED light
I have a buddy using the quad version of the evo on a 24" deep:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/EVO-Quad-48-LED-Aquarium-Light-Marine-Coral-Reef-Saltwater-Lunar-64x-3-Watt-3W-/290750669182?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43b217217e
It's really bright and he has wavy things growing. Literally all I can tell you. I know nothing about saltwater. Good luck!

Re: Beamworks LED light
I guess I wont be keeping sps then haha
I did see the quad version but it does not fit under the hood. I am hoping this light is good enough for at least softies.
I will post pictures when It arrives.
