The 200 Plan
As a few of you know, I recently parted with my 120g Reef. It's in now in the home of a good friend. I was always re-arranging something in it, wishing I had more room, so I decided to go bigger. 240g display with 300g total system. I bought a 96" x 24" x 24" fixer upper to work on. Not "Locked" in to this particular tank, but I enjoy the work. Seeing the looks on peoples faces when they see the end results, knowing where it started. Several steps have already begun. First ordeal was getting it home! Basically just me and two friends. More the "Two Friends"! Almost lost a thumb getting it down from the trailer! Second was cleaning and giving a thorough inspection. Several things were obvious. Resealing it. Scratch removal process.
So far I've managed to clean it up pretty well and remove all the old silicone. Painted the back side black, used to be the front. Alot of scratches there. Bought a 4pack of GE Silicone 1. Used it to reseal the 75g I'll be using as my sump/ fuge. Changed my mind about using it for the 240. I want black seams/seals. Here's a link to resealing I used. Was better than the way I used to do it.

Sump came out nice. I resealed it to test this method and becuase it had "Blue" imbedded in the seals. The blue is from using Methylene Blue as a treatment. Big no-no in a reef.
Black Aquarium Silicone: http://www.amazon.com/GordonGlass-Black-Aquarium-Silicone-Sealant/dp/B003PNXU1K/ref=reg_hu-rd_add_1_dp_T2
Scratch removal = Cerium Oxide. Can take out alot of the smaller scratches, but will only lessen the effects of deeper ones. Will pick up some soon and see how well it works. I'm sure others will be interested.
Custom stand and canopy to come. Starting from scratch gives you ALL the options;)
ASM G4+ Skimmer
RKElite
Dual 1000gph return pumps
Dual 250w MH Lumenarc pendants w/ T5 set-up (will be replaced with 3 LED units at some point)
JBJ ATO w/ 20g reservoir
Rena XP4 for those occasions I want to run carbon or just polish up the water.
4 Koralia Evolution 1400gph set-up w/ RKE's wave maker settings. Was going with 2 MP40wES, but I can't justify the price. $800-$900 for a pair.
Besides the things mentioned here, there will be some pretty neat surprises I'll incorperate. I'll post them with pics as they develop.

Very big thumbs up!
Looking forward to seeing this. I like the black seals choice as well. Should be very nice!

Re: The 200 Plan
Ok.. Buffed all the scratches out, cut the height down 2" all the way around the top. Now 220g. Got rid of the center braces and used the cut-offs to eurobrace the tank, custom built an oak cabinet and cherry stained. Replaced glass overflows with slotted acrylic.
