Man oh man... I LOOOVE having a decent LFS around. Went in today to find an acro to test out in my tank (the montipora is doing great) and they werre having a buy 2 get 1 free sale on coral. I walked out with 3 pieces. A nice 2"x3" piece of Christmas Favia, a two head BRIGHT neon green branching frogspawn (that I've watched hold the brilliant green over several months now), and a 2.5" blue stag frag. I was happy with those three pieces for $40! I'll wait a few more weeks and see how my stag does. If it's still looking good I'll get my shipments in.

Finally got my wife's camera out. Didn't take the time to get the tripod out... but I promise that will come when I get my real coral shipments in! :-)

The montipora I picked up has already encrusted. Some areas have already grown over the epoxy. It's looking good. The acro I picked up looks good also. It isn't encrusting yet that I can tell. It was a fresh cut frag it looked like though, so it's not surprising if it was a bit slow to start.

Found a few good deals at Marine Solutions here in STL. Grabbed an orange serpent starfish, a blood red fire shrimp and the nice part of a clean up crew (1 small Mexican turbo and 2 nice big scarlet reef crabs). This store has me seriously spoiled!

I put everyone in last night an they're all doing well today. The montipora is still growin extremely fast... faster than any SPS I've had I feel like. Maybe I'm just less obsessed this time! Haha

I noticed my montipora starting to bleach out a bit so checked on the system.  My ATO had stopped up and I lost two gallons of water.  It spiked my salinity up a touch and caused my skimmer level to go down and stop working for a few days.

Everything is back up and running now, hoping to see a quick recovery for the monti that continues to grow quickly.

I'm ordering a new JBJ ATO for the tank. Last week was a CRAZY week at work (75 hours) and the topping off was neglected. Oddly enough the acro I picked up is still perfectly healthy, but the monti is completely bleached (still has polyps, so def not dead).

I've got to get that ATO fixed up before getting my anemone and clam in. I'm not as nuts about the tank enough this time around to top it off by hand daily. When I first started a few years ago stating into the tank for what seemed like forever everyday and topping it off seemed like no big deal. This time around I'm a little more lazy. I think I'm leaning towards an LPS dominated tank for that reason. SPS just seems a bit too high maintenance for me at this time.

The good news, all of my water parameters look great. Other than them fluctuating in between me refilling the top off water. My rock is aging too. I've got more critters rolling around now. It's looking much better!

Hey Matt you remember that DIY auto topoff I posted way back? It's been running almost three years without a kickup, you might try one, best thing I ever made for mine. It's posted in the DIY section, I think. :-)

I made mine exactly like yours when I first got started. Mine finally stopped workin after a few years. Was perfect for years. Float switch isn't stuck so I'm not sure what the problem is. No biggy. I'm actually more short on time than cash at the moment. Lol. Better place to be than I have been in the past I suppose.

Probably just needs another float switch, contacts may have burned out. But they only about $5.00.

Fell in love with and got a good deal on a Wyoming White Clownfish at the fish store. I normally have hated white clownfish but these guys have a really nice look. I don't know how to describe why they're different than the ugly ones... haha. They had a Maine Blizzard Clownfish also and it's hideous. Lol.

Will post pics later today.

They have PINK and PURPLE clownfish?!? WHERE!? Lol. Just kiddin.

This strand actually originated from two regular old Oc clownfish. Since it was only last year that it really first started showing up, this guy is likely far less degraded than many of the designers. I've been watching him for weeks now. Now just wish me luck getting this darn damsel out of the tank. Lol

I left a fish trap in the tank most of the day. No luck, the damsel never even looked interested. So tonight I pulled out all of the rock and got the damsel. The clown is alone and happy! I'm going to snag him a snowflake to pair with soon. Then I'll get my rainbow bubble tip anemone in. I'm pumped! :-)
