JD's 150 Reef
This isn't so much a "Build" thread, but more of a "Combining" of several systems into a beautiful 150 Reef. I bought MCarnes system, as he was moving & decided to take a break from the hobby for awhile. Kinda caught me by surprise. Thanks Mike! Alot of my nicer pieces came from his system. Awesome tank! The 150 system I purchased needed serious upgrading. Basically a FWLRO with a few softys that somehow managed to survive in a non-reef environment. Unfortunately, the coral didn't survive the move. This purchase was for Tank/Stand/Canopy as most of the other equipment wouldn't be reused. My 55 & 40B Reefs were also added.
After much hard work, wheelin' & dealin' (Trades!) to get the rest of the equipment needed for the overhaul, selling "this" to pay for "that" and putting it ALL together... I have a Reef!
150 Before...
After...
Basic Equipment List:
RKL ... "The Brain" ATO/ Ph/ Temp/ Timmers
Mag 18 "The Heart" feeding the returns as well as TLF reactor (GFO), another reactor to follow.
Reef Octopus NWB 200 "The Beast"
2x MP10's
450 watts of dimmable LEDs seperated into 3 individual fixtures
33L (48x12x12) Custom Sump/ Fuge lit by LEDs for Macro
300w Hydor Heater
Current Fish List:
Regal Tang - Ellen
Yellow Tang - Portia
Tomanii Tang
Black Clowns paired
Male Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse
Kaudern's Cardinal pair
Engineering Goby? Maybe MIA, reclusive little guy
This list will grow with the right species & time.....
Clean-up Crew...
Cleaner Shrimp
Fire Shrimp
Emeral Crab
Numerous Hermit Crabs
& Varoius snails
Corals...
Plenty of LPS, Zoas & Softys. A few choice SPS.. more to come.
All 150+ lbs. of very nice LR with a few "Show" pieces mixed on crushed coral substrate. Rock is on the glass bottom to prevent tunneling & settling. (Engineering Goby <<<)

Love it. Kinda saw it come along since helping move the heavy sob and its startling to know how it looked before and how it does now! Great job Jason, another beauty! That one shined up real nice!

Re: JD's 150 Reef
Just an update...
Tank is doing really well. Fish, coral & all seem to be happy & content. Corals are showing growth already. Noticeably on the SPS! Lighting seems to be doing it justice. Over the last week or so, I'm realizing I've lost my vision for this tank. With all the beautiful pieces & fish... I just HAD to put them in. Even though it's not what I wanted. I'm going to get back on track. Sell or trade for the things I really wanted to begin with... before it gets too far to change.
