power outage
It would seem 18hrs without power killed off my coral beauty angelfish, a 6 line wrasse, and my tomani tang along with two out of eight peppermint shrimp. My gs maroon clowns, royal grama, yellowTail blue damsels, yellow tang, and copperbanded butterfly are alive and well. Im amazed at what i lost and didnt. I thought for sure the butterfly was toast but it lived and it was a surprise to lose the other stuff... id have thought they were hardier than this butterfly...

Re: power outage
I’m sorry for your loss. Luckily my power was only out 2 or 3 hours. Knowing that it was coming, I shut down my overflow and return pump. If I’d not been home and the power went out, I’d have a flood. Is there anything I can do to keep the return pump line from acting as a siphon if I have a power outage? Some kind of one way valve maybe?

Re: power outage
You have to create a siphon break or lower your sump to hold the excess water. Do you have a pic of your plumbing set up? You should never have a flood during an outage.

Re: power outage
All you need do to break siphon is drill a small hole in the return line just above the water line, when you loose power the hole will let air back into the return line rather than water. You can drill this hole on an angle pointing down to have the return water directed into the tank from this hole. Here is a link on how to post pics on this forum..Posting pics on this forum
