aqua c remora skimmer with 1200 gph pump

ok so i got a aqua c for my 65 gallon reef tank but man this thing is suckin water out my tank like crazy it sucked almost four gallons of water out my tank over night i need help any ideas the skimmer is rated for my tank but wth do i do i have the rubber band on the collection cup as high as it will go

It's going to do that for a few weeks. Just leave it and don't empty it everyday so it doesn't suck all the water out of your tank. Are you using the one with the drain attachment? If you are just plug the hole and let the water just go back into the tank. It takes 3 weeks or so before it breaks in. I would just dump the cup every week for now until it breaks in. Mine seemed to skim better if I left the neck on the cup a little dirty too. When I scrubbed it clean it would take a few days to start skimming again. If I just rinsed it in water without scrubbing it would start skimming again immediately.

yeah its skimming foam and yellow stuff but i got the drain attatchment goin into a bottle and it fills up the bottle quick but the water looks fine in just goin to direct the hose back into the tank i guess

I would just plug the drain hole for now and let the water go back down the neck. It will start skimming good but it takes a little time. I never used the drain hole on mine but the cup would fill up with yellow water until it broke in. I have talked to the manufacturer about it and they said it's just from the pump running to strong at first. You can put a ball valve on it for a little while to slow it down until it breaks in if you want. They even sent me an extra cup and a ball valve for free but I didn't use it.

ok i tried to close the drain it just filled the cup and ran out the lid and ball valve ? please load a pic of this ball valve so i can see what your talkin bout here

It's running out of the lid? Is it water or just foam? Mine would foam out of the top sometimes but the water should just fall back down the neck.

water and i think my wife just fucked my tank i did a ten gallon water change cuz my salinity was low and i asked my wife to mix salt in with the new water well she put three cups in one and two in the other and she didnt mix the salt in and well it got dumped in the tank ten gallons of unmixed salt water

you shouldnt have done a 10g WC just because your SG was low, you will end up doing more damage by changing the params quickly than if you left it a bit low. so sounds to me like you screwed yourself, the wife had nothing to do with it, she just helped you fail faster.
