Here's some pics of my 7 x 4 ft 300 + gallon tank. 400 lbs of red lava rock.
Feeding time frenzy!

There's a synodontis angelica hiding somewhere in there.

Wow, that's a stunning tank. Looks as though they can almost do laps around the mountain.
And I worry about how much rock I can put in my 55 gallon tank!

Though I must admit, my sister is convinced she could get me a feature on 'My Strange Addiction' so I may use this thread to get her off my back lol

Re: 300+ gallon Mbuna/Synodontis Tank
I change about 120 gallons a week out of it. I have a 55 gallon sump, fluval fx5, emperor 400 & HOT mag filters on it. The mag drive pump in the sump turns over 188gph. The rocks are built up on both sides & the end but hollow in the middle--I can't stop the fish from breeding in here--I have fish that I had no intention of breeding doing just that, breeding. I've got giant danio fry in the sump because the danios bred & no less than 12 mbuna females holding at any given time--of course the mbuna are usually holding synodontis multipunctata fry--I've got about 15 that harass them constantly.

Nice tank! I like the rock/sand contrast. That is also one crazy mix of fish and they look great. Do you know what's in there or is it just a random mix? That would make an awesome preaditor hap tank. A 16" Champsochromis caeruleus would feel right at home. You'd have to take out some rock though. Nice setup!

Wow those "Trout" are a beautiful fish, and Eatexer has a wonderful "Giraffe" that would probably mix with it well?
But not in my 55G

Re: 300+ gallon Mbuna/Synodontis Tank
Yeah, they would work well together, but a 55g would not work for a champ. If you put only that "Giraffe" in there it could work, but they really need more room than that. The particular fish that etexer has is really mild mannered. It's the same fish that was getting beat up in my 120g.
