Help with a RO/DI unit Empty Help with a RO/DI unit

Post by Burgess' Thu 16 Jun 2011, 12:32 pm

OK I have hauled water from the stores long enough and ready to find a RO/DI unit. I have a 55 gal tank now but will be upgrading to around a 150 in the future. Anyone have any suggestions on a good unit and where to look. I rent right now so I will have to be able to move it when I buy a house in the next few months. Thanks for your help!!!!!

I was going to either purchase a cheap portable unit from ebay or from Melev. Keep in mind the cheap unit would basically last a year and then replace it... considering the unit is cheaper than buying a replacement membrane... wasn't a big deal to me.

Here are links:

I bought this one,

http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/build-your-own-ro-system.html

I ordered a 75 gpd, 5 stage with TDS meter and it was about $180 total. I set mine up like this,

http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/products/reverse-osmosis-filters-and-systems/replacement-filters-and-di-resin/ro-di-filter-kits/5-stage-standard-replacement-filter-kit.html

I just buy those replacement kits. The 75 gpd is be best rejection rate and I get 0 TDS out of my unit for months before I even have to change the DI resin.

I bought an eBay unit and so far no problems. I read alot of reviews on it and it seems to be a pretty reliable unit It's a 4 stage and uses standard size components with a 3 gallon reservoir it was about 120 for 75 Gallon per day. I'll check brand in a bit.

Ok it's actually 5 stage lol once it went under the sink I haven't had to worry about it yet. You can taste the difference in water. I also paid 137 with the lil 3 gallon reservoir. I'm happy with it don't know if the other is worth it
