I just got a bubble tip anemone. It is excreting a brown substance after I gave fed it. Which it didn't eat the clam piece I attempted to feed it. Now it rises and closes up the fold back down and opens back up. Is this a normal behavior?

The brown substance is probably poo. It may not have been hungry when you tried to feed it. The down side is that it's also possible that it's stressed and expelling it's zooxanthellae. How does it look? Where did you get it? Does it have a nice color or is it white?

Thanks Ritter .it bubbled back up after excreting for a bit. He seems alot better this morning. He is a neon green though not white. Got him at Lfs in Tyler. Aclown has already noticed him but just goes and nips a bit. Runs off then cones back and repeats. What does that mean, any tricks to get him to host?

Sounds like it's good and healthy then. I don't think there's anyway to get the clowns interested in hosting. They will do it when they get ready or not at all.

everyone here is going to think I am crazy, but here goes.

I know of 3 people that have printed out pictures of clowns living in nems and taped the picture to the glass facing in near the nem. In less than a week the clowns in the tank started hosting the nem in the tank. I have no clue how or why this worked but it did. Im not going to guarantee that this will work for you but hey, if it worked before it cant hurt to try.

LOL

I got the female to host. I think. I woke up this morning and she was rolling in it. It was awesome. But she hasn't been around it much today, I guess clowns don't stay around it much because she hasn't been around it when I noticed today. Does that mean she is hosting ??
