Ulitimate Frag & Propagation Tank
I've really liked how this has turned out so far..
Started with a Craigslist ad while in Destin, Fl. $40 Frag Tank! 96"x14"x10", 1/2" acrylic walls, 3/16" bottom.
Daniel welded up a custom square tube frame for it to sit on. Added a 33g custom sump/ fuge, Mag 12 return pump, Skimmer, TwoLittleFishies Carbon Reactor, ATO, Nano Koralia (Softy side), K1 (SPS side), seperate timers for each side, 6 Hagen Glo single T5 fixtures with ATI bulbs. What started as a $40 project... just got exspensive

Re: Ulitimate Frag & Propagation Tank
Well,,, I've got an extra Yellow Tang, File Fish and an SPS eating Blenny... The Blenny does well with the Softies though. See any problems with these?
Re: Ulitimate Frag & Propagation Tank

Re: Ulitimate Frag & Propagation Tank
I was there on Sunday and it's a sweet display tank with great looking specimens (yeah, I may not have a marine tank yet, but you buggers have taught me a lot about healthy and unhealthy SBS and softies in the last 12 months, and they all looked Goooood)

Re: Ulitimate Frag & Propagation Tank
Im thinking 4 250W XM 20k halides and 2 mp10es w would make that thing just rocking.

Re: Ulitimate Frag & Propagation Tank
LOL... I'm shooting for LEDs. The mp10es would be sweet though. Gonna try out that skimmer on it... see what it'll do.
Re: Ulitimate Frag & Propagation Tank
Nah, halides do AMAZING growth + decent color.
LEDs do slower growth with AMAZING color. For a frag tank I'd do halides.

Re: Ulitimate Frag & Propagation Tank
Might put my other 250w MH on it.. for the winter anyways. Come next spring/summer I want LEDs.. heat may become an issue. True on the growth though...

Re: Ulitimate Frag & Propagation Tank
I will put money down that a 250W halide will outgrow my 48 Crees over any tank.

Updated pic..
Got rid of the PVC Light Rack.. added a 250w MH with a 20K XM bulb over the SPS side. Started doseing 2 part.. and the SPS growth has really taken off! All my SPS just look great.. growing like weeds! Have not gone to Kalkwasser yet, not looking to change what's working.

Hey Jason,
I hope to swing by there this Friday and pick up the duncan and the starfish. Any word on the 2-250W MH's?

Re: Ulitimate Frag & Propagation Tank
My finale lighting setup on my 40G coral only tank was t5's and LED combo. I had 4 panorams and 2 T5 bulbs going. I had AMAING growth with color and speed. If you go with LEDS i would really look into the UV leds but I don't know to much about them. But try a combo with either PC or T5s and I know you would be happy.

Almost there! Upgraded skimmer to a Reef Octopus NWb150. Added a Reef Keeper2. Mounted my T5's retrofit and hung my other 250w MH pendant.
