Football! Finally!
Anyone else addicted to football as much as saltwater tanks like I am? I do a fantasy football league every year and travel to Dallas for the weekend to do it. Anyone else play? Maybe if enough members played we could start an ETAK football league next year.

Re: Football! Finally!
I'm a huge football fan and play fantasy football as well. I actually started a league this year with 1 huge purpose. I'm trying to put together 12+ members to be in a keepers league. For the first three or four years (until we get 12 LEGIT members who will keep at it every year) we'll just keep 3 or 4 players. Then one year we're going to draft knowing that the next we're going to bump it up to 8 or more keepers. This year we don't have enough real players (I only recruited 5 that I know personally) but starting next year I hope to have a sports memorabilia prize to offer each year as well.

Re: Football! Finally!
We do a 10 team, 1 keeper league. That way no one holds all the good players for years in a row. We had a trophy made like The Stanley Cup where you can put your name on it and the winner gets to keep it for the year. We made a new rule this year that if you beat someone by more than 75 points you get to rename their team until they win again, which could get ugly.

I have to avoid Google Images while at work.
Romo did not enjoy his vacation on Revis Island.

Re: Football! Finally!
Revis Island was taken over up by 88 until he stopped playing. WTH... all those skills and quits playing after the first quarter. I would have benched him. Seriously!
Re: Football! Finally!
Revis was on Austin to start the game then they put him on Bryant, that's why he didn't do anything else. Austin didn't do anything until Revis started covering Bryant.

Re: Football! Finally!
Dez went into the locker room and get an IV before halftime. He was dehydrated and cramping. They definitely should have benched him! I don't think he wasn't playing... I think he couldn't play. He still almost made that crazy catch on third down... who knows why Romo threw either of those passes his way!

Re: Football! Finally!
It's a good week to be a Ravens fan! :-)
Don't throw all of the blame on Romo there. It was also a poor play call. A designed play action roll out to the right with every receiver route going left except Bryant's. For Romo it was literally throw the ball into the stands or throw to Bryant (or throw across his body and across the field).
That play call is terrible for several reasons. 1. PLAY ACTION?! It's third and 8... nobody is biting on play action. That means your QB is going to turn AWAY from the defense to fake the run (meaning he can't read the safety to find out if Revis had help over the top).
2. Receiver routes. Did they even practice that play? Did anyone on staff say, "ya know... there's only one receiving option on this play."
3. ROMO?!? Your defense has played lights out except for one possession before the half. You weren't going to lose if you didn't convert. Throw the ball out of bounds and punt!

Re: Football! Finally!
Who plays who next week? Bal at Ten, Dal at SF. I played SF's D in my fantasy league... I'll be dropping them before next week! I'll pretty well constantly try to pick up whatever D is playing against the seahawks! Haha.

I'm picking on the Colts until they show me otherwise. I picked up the Browns this week. I haven't drafted a defense till the next to last pick since a beer induced pick in 2008 when I picked the Cowboys early when they got Pacman Jones.
This week I'm starting,
QB
Matt Schaub
RB
Jamaal Charles
Jones-Drew
WR
Miles Austin
Reggie Wayne
TE
Gates
Flex
Mike Tolbert
and for my final flex I'm torn between Plaxico Burress and Joseph Addai. I have Plax penciled in right now, I think he has the potential for either big points or no points. Addai is usually good for 15 a game which usually won't cut it in my league.
Oh, and I have Gostowski at kicker.

Re: Football! Finally!
I'm in a 12 man league and my starting lineup is:
QB
Joe Flacco Bench Rex Grossman
HB
LeSean McCoy Bench Ronnie Brown (Looking to drop him after they split last week)
Payton Hillis Bench Shonn Greene
WR
Roddy White Bench Dwayne Bowe
Anquan Boldin Bench Mike Thomas
Flex
Beanie Wells
TE
Rob Gronkowski Bench Ed Dickson
Kicker
Billy Cundiff
Defense
Tampa Bay
I never pick a D or kicker outside of the last two rounds either. I pretty well change D every single week.

Re: Football! Finally!
That's a pretty solid team for a 12 team league. I can tell you waited on QB and TE. I tried to wait on a TE but Finley went before Gates and he fell to me unbelievably and it was either take Gates or a WR like Mario Manningham or RB like Reggie Bush and I just couldn't do that.

Will you post the rules please, I have no idea how you can have a 12 man team, or how you can change players each week.

Re: Football! Finally!
There's tons of different kinds of fantasy leagues. The most popular type has each player draft in order and choose their own players for the year. You get a 6 man bench to keep 32nd string players. The better your players play, the more points you score... so you get 6my points everytime one of your players scores a td. It's beast! :-)
Yeah i thought i could find sleepers in late rounds... and for some reason some great TEs fell really late in my draft. I think i got gronkowski in 11 and dickson in 13... right before d and kicker.

Don't do it Yeti! They're trying to trick you into the "Darker Side"...LOL You guys have way to much time on your hands.
Re: Football! Finally!
It doesn't cost me extra time. I literally read absolutely every single article on nfl.com everyday anyways. I kinda love football... ;-)

Re: Football! Finally!
Well, my season is screwed. Lost my #1 draft pick for the season (Charles), my WR is hurt (Austin), my other WR has no QB (Wayne), my TE (Gates) and flex (Burress) got me ZERO points this week. Things are looking rosy and it's only week 2.
Oh wait, COWBOYS BEAT THE 49girls AND THE TEXANS BEAT some group of losers in Miami (that still haven't won anything even though all haters claimed that Jimmy Johnson was going to take them to a Superbowl years ago).

Re: Football! Finally!
Sorry I didn't see your question Yeti! The rules are pretty simple. At the beginning of the season everyone drafts their team from a list of the best offensive players. A "12 man league" just means a league that has 12 owners in it. So a league of 12 teams. You score points based on how the players you draft (and choose to start or sit the bench) play in the game. So if my player scores a TD, I get 6 points. For every 10 yards he rushes, I get 1 point. Whoever has the most points at the end of the week wins! :-)
Thus far this season I'm 2-1. I won last week even though Peyton Hillis and Beanie Wells were injured. I dropped brown and picked up Nate Washington. I traded Boldin for Kolb and dropped Grossman for Nelson (Bills). Now I'm looking to trade again (hopefully QB & WR for QB upgrade). Might be able to work a trade that'll land me Phillip Rivers. Thus far Gronkowski has worked out GREAT! :-)
