    Using a canisters how does oxygen get in water? Or do I need something else if I am using a canister and skimmer

    the skimmer will help oxygenate the water, but you could also point a powerhead toward the surface of the water. the surface disturbance will help with outgassing co2 and therefore providing o2 intake

    if you are running a cannister then there really isnt a need for the HOB , unless you need the extra flow.
