the cyano algae i have growing in my tank just got stringy. instead of it staying clumped up as it grows. i noticed it has turned to stringy and blows in the flow of water. is this a good or bad thing?

Any piece that breaks off and lands has the potential to grow . Start siphoning it off . You can use a bottle brush or even an old toothbrush and twirl it (kinda like a spaghetti fork) and remove it from the system.

I know it's frustrating but it's a part of the hobby. My tank had a severe outbreak several years ago after adding better lighting Shocked . Looked like a cyano farm.
