175g Zoa Garden build
I have a very interesting dilemma. I aquired a 48” x 48” x 17” tank recently that I’m having thoughts of setting up in my Man Cave. My wife would get her living room back and I could have a lot of benefits as well. Being a fresh build, I could customize it fully to make it as maintenance free as possible. I would have to break down the 200 and sell it. The surface area would be the same, 2,304sq. inches. Plus, I'm thinking of only needing 2 of my LED fixtures for coverage. My third LED, I can put over the frag system. The only major hurddle would be drilling the bottom for bulkheads. Everything else would only be a matter of doing it.

Re: 175g Zoa Garden build
First possible dibs on the 200 if you sell it... Lol! I love that tank. I'd try to buy it for sure.
So my vote would be for the 48". Only because I'd hope to buy the 200. I like the 200 much more! Haha! The 48" would be amazing if you set it up with a tall stand and a center overflow, but I really like your current tank more. Either will be beautiful and jaw dropping. :-)

Re: 175g Zoa Garden build
Nice idea......but is it deep enough for your fish?
No?
I want that one, that one, that one and.......that one.
I think it could look great, and like the volcano tank, you could even make a small area of mangroves in a back corner perhaps?
My only concern would be fish jumping out.

I would keep the 200 also. I joke about the volcano tank...unless you're gonna do it.

Re: 175g Zoa Garden build
No volcano tank here. I am contemplating some form of waterfall feature maybe? This would be the time to plan.

Re: 175g Zoa Garden build
Yeah? And just where would you put it? You don't have room for a third tank.....so you would have to sell one?
I can be there in about an hour!

Re: 175g Zoa Garden build
Two 1 1/4" drain pipes, two 6x10" overflow (32 linear inches) should handle 2,000 gph flow. That's 11.4 turnover rate through DT & Sump. I'll design a seperate Refugium system not to exceed 5x turnover.

Any drilling yet?

Re: 175g Zoa Garden build
Ok, for now I'm planning on keeping both. So this will be my 175g Zoa Garden build thread. Finished plan will be an incredible Zoa Garden with a few added surprises.
Pic #1 "Day 1" This on it's original 24"tall stand
Leak test, still on old stand.
Going hole crazy!
All holes drilled
New stand framed up. 31 1/2" tall
Custom built panels for the stand are in the works:)
Custom cut 1/2" glass overflows can be picked up tomorrow & bulkheads to arrive by Saturday.

Re: 175g Zoa Garden build
From what you told me about your plans, with the erupting volcano, the choreographed fountains and underwater lighting, I think it will be spectacular!

Just did! Seriously though, it will take some time. Picked up the glass overflows. Hope to install them this weekend. Also doing some cabinet work in my wifes kitchen... gotta keep those brownie points up!
