Ritter's 8 Gallon Mantis Shrimp Biocube
With the mess going on lately with the tank moves and all I broke down my 20 gallon and started up an 8 gal. biocube for my mantis. It has a low powered led light on it so I'm experimenting with what I can and can't keep in there as far as photosynthetic livestock. So far mushrooms and macroalgae are doing fine and growing so I recently added a couple of zoanthids to see if they stretch for light or not.
I've been hand feeding the mantis but the bad thing about that is every time you put your hand in there the mantis thinks it's time to eat so placing things in the tank is tricky.

I don't plan on adding any fish to this tank at all. So far I have mushrooms, zoas, blue ochtodes, fire fern, dragon's breath. I know I won't be able to keep sps but if the zoas do well I'd like to add one nice LPS to top the tank off.

Re: Ritter's 8 Gallon Mantis Shrimp Biocube
You know how you can look at a cat and tell that it's about to pounce? Mantis shrimp are the same way. You can tell when they are about to strike. That's how I know to get my hand out. I'm sure even my little one would do some damage with a full strike.
I forgot there's a big feather duster in there, a few hermits and turbo snails and an aiptasia. I'm just letting them go in this tank. If they get out of hand I really don't mind. Good natural cleanup crew. I'm looking to add other odd things that don't need a ton of light or feeding so if anyone has suggestions let me know.
